For centuries now, humans have looked to gemstones for natural remedies, to prevent illnesses, and to bring good luck – or to thwart off spirits of evilness. Natural Baltic amber has been one of the main gemstones that has been used for centuries for its pain relieving properties. As we mentioned Monday, it is the naturally occurring succinic acid that is believed to offer the analgesic property.

Baltic amber is not a regular gemstone, in the sense of most gemstones, but is more of a resin. It occurs when the resin is shed from pine trees. This resin then migrates to join with soil and sea, thus creating what we call Baltic amber.
